WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOME HEALTH CARE & HOSPICE?

HOSPICE

Hospice care is comfort care provided for patients with a prediction of six months or less if their disease goes its natural route.

HOME HEALTH CARE

Home health services are for patients who need skilled nursing care, as well as physical therapy or any other additional therapy that is arranged by their doctor. The patient's progress has to be recorded.

If the patient is qualified to obtain Medicare benefits and you're not certain about the type of care they need, find out more about the differences between hospice services and home health care below.

Who provides care?

HOSPICE

A lot of patients are given hospice services from a Medicare-trained hospice group, which gives every patient with an interdisciplinary team. This team is equipped with a physician, nurse, hospice aide, social worker and chaplain. These people come to the patient’s home, whatever it is that they refer to home as.

HOME HEALTH

Home health agencies take their services to the homes of patients that need expert care associated to their diagnosis. This includes nurses, nursing assistants, language pathologists, and physical therapists.
